Lenovo is the world's 4th largest (and mainland China's largest) PC manufacturer. It burst into global headlines when in 2005 it purchased the PC division of IBM. "Lenovo" is a portmanteau of "Le-" (from Legend) and "novo", pseudo-Latin for "new". Its Chinese name means "association" or "connected thinking" but can also imply creativity. They are active promoters of International sports - sponsoring the 2006 winter and 2008 summer Olympics among others.
